D.C. 4th of july parade. “americana”

As I walked along Constitution Avenue with my camera today, watching the parade and the city I’m lucky enough to call home, I noticed something — not a single person here was the same. It’s an observation that’s been made countless times before, one that hardly needs to be spoken, because of course, no one is the same. But within our differences, I saw a shared truth: we are all exactly who we’re meant to be, in exactly the place we’re meant to be.

I took these images to highlight the sheer diversity of the crowd and to reflect my ongoing theme of belonging. Even in today’s political climate — amid injustices both at home and overseas — it’s easy to overlook what’s right in front of us: our brothers and sisters of America.
